The Asset: A 28-acre portion of Kaiser's mill site property that has been converted into the West Valley Material Recovery Facility and Transfer Station (West Valley MRF) through a 50-50 jointly owned venture with a major local independent hauling company.

Strategy: Operate the expqnded West Valley MRF as the primary and most cost effective location for providing disposal and recycling services in western San Bernardino County. Explore exit options to create greatest realizable value for Kaiser at the appropriate time.

Execution: The facility, which is approved for permitted capacity of 7,500 tons per day, currently processes around 4,000 tons of waste and recyclables per day. Kaiser and its joint venture partner, Burrtec, continue to pursue additional transfer and recycling waste stream volumes from communities in western San Bernardino and eastern Los Angeles counties.

Result: The West Valley MRF has become the long-term solution for virtually every community in western San Bernardino County by providing a broad array of reliable and cost effective transfer and recycling services.
